It's currently built as a PWA (Progressive Web Application), but the plan is to build native versions of the application soon.
Interact uses OpenAI's GPT models, with the specific model depending on your subscription status. Visitors trying the demo on the landing page use GPT-4o-mini. Free registered users get access to GPT-5-mini, while subscribers unlock the full GPT-5 model for the best quality responses. For specialized tasks like processing PDFs and images, we use GPT-4o across all user types. Text-to-speech audio is powered by GPT-4o-mini-tts.
No! The AI features are designed to remove some of the tedium. But the AI generator is just a starting point. The goal is to create the highest quality interactives that genuinely help you learn material.
There's built-in tooling to edit and curate generated content. And you can manually enter your own content too so you don't have to rely on AI at all if you want to quickly add things like flashcards, fill-in-the-blanks, and multiple choice quizzes.

The foundation is built with the Elixir programming language. And the Phoenix LiveView framework is the secret sauce that helps ship so many features so quickly. There's also a lot of JavaScript and Tailwind CSS for usability and styling. The application is hosted on Fly.io.
